AMINA AGUEZNAY

Amina Agueznay (b. 1963) is from Casablanca, Morrocco, where she currently works and lives. After finishing secondary school at Casablanca, Agueznay studied architecture at the Catholic University of America, Washington DC, where she obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Architecture in December 1989.
 
In 1997 she returned to Morrocco, where she started to design her own jewellery and meticulously structured contemporary pieces, using traditional forms and locally-sourced materials. In her works one might recognize Agueznays passion for architecture as well. Nowadays she collaborates with master craftsmen in Morrocco to create works of diffrent scales, from small to very large.
 
Since 1999 when she exhibited her work at the Institut du Monde Arabe in Paris, Amina Agueznay has regularly shown in contemporary art exhibitions, for example in Casablanca, Rabat, Marrakesh, New York, Paris, Algiers, Lille, Rotterdam, Stuttgart and Berlin. She has also participated in various international trade shows in Zurich, Basel, Vienna and Paris. She regularly runs workshops at Kristiansand in Norway, Istanbul, at the Domaine de Boisbuchet in Lessac, France and in Morocco. Selected exhibitions include Kubatana, Vestfossen Kunstlaboratorium, Oslo, Norway (2019), Material Insanity, Macaal Museum, Marrakesh, Morocco (2018), Noise, Canter Hassan II of International Relations, Assilah (2018), Draâ x Draâ, ifa Galerie Stuttgart and Berlin (2016, 2017), Ankabouth, Société Générale Atrium, Casablanca (2016), Casablanca Green, Maison Folie, Mons (2014), Skin, FIAF, New York (2011).
 
In 2010 she was a laureate of the prestigious Mediterranean Fashion Prize.
