The Ark, Kristin Hjellegjerde Gallery's fourth summer exhibition at Schloss Görne, Germany takes up the themes of extinction and conservation. The show will feature an international group of established and emerging artists from within and beyond the gallery's roster whose practices illuminate endangered species, environments, cultures and identities while also inspiring new ways of seeing the world. The crumbling, cavernous rooms of the 18th-century castle, currently in the process of careful restoration, will serve as a ship ('the ark'), uniting seemingly disparate practices and subject-matter to create a powerful message of warning as well as a sense of awe. At time when more and more of the world faces extreme weather conditions and our biodiversity is rapidly declining, The Ark serves as a fierce rallying cry to protect our planet.
