Joe Bloom

Joe Bloom (b.1995, London) is an English artist who currently lives and works in London, England. He holds an BA in Painting and Printmaking at the Glasgow School of Art in Scotland. Bloom has completed a Foundation Fine Art course at the Royal Drawing School in England. Bloom’s paintings are primarily made with oil on canvas, in addition he works as a documentary and narrative film maker. Bloom explores and criticises social constructs and societal norms through the lens of the everyday. His art depicts human and non-human relations within vibrant landscapes. His technique of paining such vibrant images that feel systematic and unified with his motives is achieved through complicated and detailed colour mixing. Over the years Joe Bloom has maintained a personal arts practice while also being involved in multiple other employments in film and the arts.

In 2020-2021 Joe Bloom received the Artist in Residence Painting Placement from Platform Southwark in London, UK. Furthermore, Bloom received the Artist in Residence in the Country Studio of Antony Gormley in 2017.
