-The drawing "BFF" (Best Friends Forever) and “After the shot” are both made with colored pencils on paper. The pigments of the pencils on the surface of the rough textured watercolor paper gives a unique texture which creates an almost pointillism feeling to the drawings.
“BFF” depicts a group of young teenage girls looking at the sea. The landscape is inspired by the French Basque coast near the city of Biarritz. These young women staring at the raging waves is a sort of metaphor. The horizon is the endless possibility that life could offer and the stormy waters are the challenges that these young women will face and overcome. It is a drawing about the beauty of friendship the hopes and dream you have when you are young.
“After the Shot” is inspired by a scene we spotted on the Beach of Nice in south of France. It depicts the moment right after a picture was taken with a smartphone by a man of his girlfriend. In this drawing we wanted to depict the moment after the artificiality of the posing for social media and when the natural behavior is coming back.
