Teresa Murta (b.1993, Lisbon, Portugal) based in Berlin, Germany. She studied Fine Arts at the Upper School of Arts and Design in Caldas da Rainha, Portugal. In her paintings she explores the concepts of wonder, absurdity and metamorphosis. The way she intuitively plays and combines artificial and natural realms welcomes the viewer to other realities. The duality of abstraction and figuration interests Teresa. The artist’s painting process is sensitive tomany variables (internal and external). The compositions and their elements are not predicted and don't follow asketch, study or any visual plan. She explores memories and emotions directly on the surface by activelywondering. Teresa’s work is inspired by contrasts such as the natural vs artificial realms for example -- a strongsense of ambiguity helps the artist question our ways of seeing.
