Ramesh pronounced Raamesh was born Azar Mohebbi Tehrani in 1946 in Tehran, Iran, she never married. She began her singing career in 1964 in a radio classical music program. Pre-revolution in Iran Ramesh was one of the most popular female singers, but post revolution she was banned from performing and yet she remained a household name for many generations despite the fact that she fell silent after the revolution. After the revolution of 1979 with the restrictions imposed on female singers by the clerical regime, she had to flee the country and left Iran for America but subsequently, she gave up singing in protest to the clerical regime’s ban on female singers In Iran. She became a voice for the feminist movement in Iran. Like the great Iranian Resistance’s singer Marjan, she thought of her homeland and presenting her art to her people.
Renowned Iranian singer Ramesh said in this regard: “At first, my withdrawal from singing was a protest to the banning of my fellow women compatriots from expressing their internal feelings by singing songs. They could not have their voice heard by others. Gradually, I got used to this protest and it remained with me for years. Now, if one day I return to Iran, I will sing from the bottom of my heart for my people.”
The title is named after the Song by the Australian singer Kylie Minogue.
