Suzuki Takako

Suzuki Takako (b. 1984, Japan) received her training at Meiji University, Tokyo, and Emily Carr College of Art & Design, Vancouver. Her practice translates everyday sensory experience into a distinctive visual language of elongated human figures and whimsical creatures inhabiting worlds where humans and animals coexist freely. Central to her work is an interrogation of contradiction: through abstracted figures that are human, animal, or hybrid, apparent simplicity gives way to notes of vulgarity, folly, and absurdity, prompting viewers to examine their own assumptions. In this way, Suzuki elevates the ephemeral pleasures of ordinary life into an open and quietly profound artistic language.
