For me, the dynamism and interaction of these elementary forms with precisely tuned colors represent universal relationships.
The titles of the initial series are derived from one of Piet Mondrian's writings, a fictional dialogue with a doubting critic from 1919, first published as ‘Dialoog over de Nieuwe Beelding’ in De Stijl,1919.
The title of Shape N°1, “Perfectly true“, a simple exclamation in Mondrian's conversation, points in a poetically shifted context to the general „Idea of Truth“ that was proclaimed by Kazimir Malevich during the early days of Abstraction.
The works are about clarity and openness, aimed at creating visual sensations that are emotional and direct. Individually perceived pictorial spaces allow very personal interpretations and can open doors to the timeless, transcendental and spiritual aspects of abstraction.
Technical information:
I'm using furniture grade Masonite (MDF, Mitteldichte Faserplatte), like it is used for building loudspeakers, designer furniture, etc. It's a classic durable art material, regularly used by artists like Josef Albers or Günther Förg. It is cut with a mechanical milling machine. Just if someone asks: no problem with emissions.1of 2
