Simón Arrebola Parras (b. 1979) lives and works in Seville, Spain. He holds a Fine Art PHD with Mention International from the University of Seville, Spain (2017); a MFA Art, Idea and Production, Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Seville (2011) and a BFA Painting and Engraving and Design, Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Seville (2003). Arrebola’s interests encompass the creation of visual narratives where different elements, such as temporal development of events and its involved characters are represented as a journey through his own childhood memories. Indeed, the stories depicted are nourished mainly by the artist’s autobiographical experiences and memories, showing it as a visual riddle based on the combination of mythical and cinematographic stories. According to the artist, memory is intimately linked to imagination. Therefore, imagination helps us to recompose these biographical moments stored in our memory that we are not able to remember correctly. Throughout his work — which embraces drawing, painting, and three-dimensional models — Arrebola explores a kind of landscapes and scenes with an interesting approach to scenography. As a result, the artist present pictures charged by a sense of drama and mystery. Arrebola has participated extensively in solo and group exhibitions across Spain and internationally.
