Cigdem Aky (b. 1985)  is from Munich, Germany where she continues to live and work. In 2013, Aky graduated from Akademy of Fine Arts in Munich, where she studied painting and graphic art. Aky continued her studies in painting and graphic design at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Karlsruhe, graduating in 2016. From 2016 to 2017, Cigdem Aky was a student of Prof. Helmut Dorner. In her work Aky focuses on shape, colour and light, creating abstract work, devoid of any figurative associations. Aky explores painting as science, an experiment, where she combines geometric structures with gestural elements.
