Adeline de Monseignat

Adeline de Monseignat (b.1987) is a Dutch-Monegasque artist who lives and works in London. In 2009 she graduated with a BA in Language and Culture from UCL after which Monseignat completed Summer School Foundation course at the Slade School of Fine Art in 2010 and graduated with a MA in Fine Art from City & Guilds of London Art School in 2011. Monseignat’s practice ranges across various mediums, primarily focusing on sculpture, installation and works on paper. Her artworks explore juxtaposing ideas of familiar and unknown, threatening and safe, the animate and inanimate objects. Much of her work is inspired by surrealism and Freud’s concept of the uncanny.

Highlights and Collections

In 2020, Monseignat was selected for the London Bronze Editions, London, UK. She was awarded the Catlin Art Prize Public Vote Prize in 2012, in the same year she was shortlisted for the Threadneedle Prize at the Mall Galleries and in 2013 was the recipient of the Royal Society of Sculptors Bursary Award.
