In the context of art, the ancient Japanese philosophy of wabi-sabi is often defined as a kind of flawed beauty, an appreciation for the anomalies that arise in nature or during the process of making something as well as the acceptance of visible marks of age or wear. The latest group show at Kristin Hjellegjerde’s London Bridge gallery brings together the work of nine artists who, in different ways, embrace spontaneity, fluidity, motion and gesture to create distinctly captivating works of art that investigate process, materiality and the complexities of human perception.
